Architect Juhani Pallasmaa celebrates his 90th birthday this week! The architect and world-renowned thinker has donated the library he amassed over the course of his career to the collections of the Architecture & Design Museum. Part of this extensive book collection is now accessible to the public in Pallasmaa’s Reference Library, located in the museum’s new Eteläranta 6 event space. Detailed local plans for Makasiiniranta area in Helsinki have now become legally binding. The detailed local plans for the new Museum of Architecture and Design in Helsinki, Makasiiniranta and Olympiaranta enable one of the most significant urban development projects in central Helsinki. The South Harbour area will be transformed into an open and vibrant waterfront city district.
Other Actors (2025) is a three-channel video installation by London-based artist Ilona Sagar. It explores the links between bodies and buildings, health and architecture, through the lens of Paimio Sanatorium. The installation starts approximately on the hour every hour during the opening hours of the exhibition.
