Architecture & Design Museum Helsinki

Carson Chan joins the new Museum of Architecture and Design from the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City where he has served as the inaugural Director of the Emilio Ambasz Institute for the Joint Study of the Built and Natural Environment, and where he was also Curator of architecture and design since 2021. Chan will begin his new roles in January 2026.

The audio guide offers visitors the opportunity to delve into the themes of the Escape to Moominvalley exhibition. The audio guide invites listeners to reflect on the significance of Tove Jansson’s art and life in our present time; on an individual, collective, and societal level. The audio guide can be bought together with the museum ticket.

The Finnish architectural practice JKMM Architects, renowned for its museum architecture, has been chosen as the winner of the international design competition for the new Museum of Architecture and Design in Helsinki with its proposal “Kumma.” A total of 624 proposals from around the world were accepted into the competition. All entries were evaluated anonymously.

The selection of our Museum Shop covers a wide range of different design fields. You’ll find iconic design objects, architecture and design books, fashion, glass, ceramics, and more. The shops also feature rotating collections of jewelry and products by graphic designers and illustrators. The museum shop is open during museum opening hours.
