Architecture & Design Museum Helsinki is Finland’s national special museum in its field. Its operations are managed by AD museum Ltd. The museum’s mission is to preserve, research and present materials and phenomena related to Finnish architecture and design, both nationally and internationally.

Architecture & Design Museum Helsinki is the national special museum for architecture and design in Finland. In addition to exhibitions, events and projects, the museum plays a significant role in architecture and design education, publishes research-based knowledge, and provides access to materials related to the field.

The museum currently operates from its historic premises on Korkeavuorenkatu in Helsinki while also serving audiences nationwide through digital channels and projects. A new museum building is being planned for Helsinki’s South Harbour and is set to be completed in 2030.

Architecture & Design Museum Helsinki was established through the merger of two national special museums, the Finnish Museum of Architecture and the Design Museum, in January 2024. Both institutions, founded in 1956 and 1873 respectively, were among the oldest of their kind internationally.

The museum showcases iconic works alongside the most exciting contemporary creators. Immersive exhibitions and events, together with the Design Shop and café, invite visitors to experience, learn and enjoy. Located in the heart of Helsinki’s Design District, the museum is only a short walk from the city centre.

The museum’s extensive collections illuminate the history and development of Finnish architecture and design. Comprising objects, architectural models, photographs and archival materials from more than 5,500 designers and architects, they offer a comprehensive view of Finland’s design heritage.
