Construction work by the City of Helsinki on Koulupuistikko Square, located in front of the Architecture & Design Museum, will begin on Monday, 3 August 2026 at the earliest. The project is expected to be completed by 16 December 2026.
The square is being redeveloped into a more welcoming and functional public space for spending time outdoors, hosting events and supporting local services.
The construction work will not affect pedestrian access to the museum, which is located on the edge of the square at Korkeavuorenkatu 23. Both the museum’s fron doors and the accessible entrance will remain in normal use throughout the construction. Accessible entrance is via the museum’s rear door on Ullanlinnankatu.
The construction site will temporarily affect traffic arrangements, pedestrian routes around the museum and parking in the surrounding area.
Changes to Tram Services: 31 August–30 September
As part of the project, work will also be carried out on the tram tracks. Tram services in the area will therefore be suspended from 31 August to 30 September 2026.
During September, tram 10B will be the closest service to the museum. The nearest stop is Kolmikulma, approximately 300 metres from the museum.
The Kolmikulma (H0703 and H0704), Johanneksenkirkko (H0705 and H0706) and Tarkk’ampujankatu (H0708) tram stops will be out of service until 30 September.
