Research opens the door to knowledge

The Architecture and Design Museum’s research is rooted in our extensive collections. We aim to highlight new perspectives and reliable, research-based knowledge on the history of Finnish architecture and design. At the heart of our work is the interaction between the original and the contemporary—where archival material meets present-day questions and interests. Research helps us understand how architecture and design are created, the conditions in which they are made, and the broader phenomena that shape them. Please note: the museum’s collections customer service is closed due to a collection relocation project until 1 April 2027.
