Accessibility in the Architechture and Design Museum

Arrival
• Tram line 10 stops directly in front of the museum at the “Johanneksenkirkko” tram stop on Yrjönkatu.
• Several bus lines stop nearby.
• There is a frame lock bike rack in the triangular square in front of the museum and a bicycle rack in the backyard.
• A city bike station is located at the corner of the museum.

Entrances
Main Entrance – Korkeavuorenkatu 23
• Access from street level includes five stone steps: the first is 11 cm high, the rest are 17 cm.
• Stair width: 280 cm. Handrails on both sides, 82 cm high.
• Door handle height: 80 cm. The main door is heavy to open.
• Doorway width: 100 cm, or 200 cm with both doors open.
• A doorbell is located on the right side at a height of 108 cm.
Inside, another staircase leads to the lobby:
• Step height: 16 cm. Stair width: 220 cm.
• Wooden handrails on both sides, 120 cm high.
• The doorway before the lobby is 72 cm wide, or 260 cm fully open.
• Threshold height: 2 cm.

Accessible Entrance – Ullanlinnankatu 4
• A concrete ramp (6 m long, 16° slope) leads to a landing, followed by another ramp (6 m, 12° slope).
• Continuous handrails on both sides, 90 cm high.
• Ramp width (narrowest point): 107 cm.
• Alternatively, access via stairs with 5 steps (16 cm high). Metal handrail on the left side, 85 cm high. Stair width: 113 cm.
• The entrance door is locked. A doorbell is mounted to the right at 114 cm height.
• Museum staff will assist and guide visitors inside.
• Doorway width: 85 cm or 137 cm fully open.
• Vestibule doorway: 97 cm or 147 cm fully open.
• A descending ramp follows: 8° slope, 100 cm at narrowest, with 85 cm high handrails on both sides.
