Walking Tour for Groups: 1970s Urban Utopias in Itä-Pasila
Explore architecture and the built environment through the lens of historical and contemporary societal themes.
This walk through East Pasila takes visitors into a neighbourhood that stands as a prime example of utopian urban planning from the 1970s. Designed as a “compact city,” East Pasila aimed to promote community and centralise services for easy access. The walk highlights the area’s distinctive concrete-heavy design and considers how the ideals of 1970s planning have stood the test of time—and how they continue to shape the area’s development today.
The walk starts at Rauhanasema (Veturitori 3, Helsinki) and ends at Junailijanaukio. Duration: approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Duration: 75 minutes
