The Museum of Architecture and Design spans two adjacent buildings. One ticket gives you access to all our exhibition spaces. The museum is located in Kaartinkaupunki, at the heart of Helsinki’s Design District, just a short walk from the city centre.

By Public Transport
The nearest tram stop to the Architecture and Design Museum is Johanneksenkirkko. The stop is located directly in front of the museum’s main entrance (Building D). Building A is located behind Building D, at the other end of the block.
With a City Bike
A Helsinki City Bike station is right outside the museum’s main entrance.
By Car
The museum does not have public parking. Nearby street parking is mostly paid. If arriving by taxi, you may stop briefly either in front of the main entrance (Korkeavuorenkatu 23) or in the courtyard behind the museum (Ullanlinnankatu).
Accessible Entrances and Parking
The most accessible entrances to the Museum of Architecture and Design are located in the inner courtyard. The address for these entrances is Ullanlinnankatu 4, 00130 Helsinki.
There is one accessible parking space in the courtyard, reserved for visitors who need it—such as wheelchair users. A parking permit for this space can be obtained from the museum’s customer service desk for the duration of your visit.
Accessibility Inside the Museum
Both buildings have elevators. The elevator in Building D is fully accessible.
The accessible toilet in Building D is located on the basement level. The accessible toilet in Building A is also on the basement level. Accessible toilets in both buildings are gender-neutral and equipped with an emergency pull cord.
Please note: The museum does not have an induction loop system.

Visiting with Strollers
We recommend visitors with strollers use the courtyard entrances. These can be accessed through the gate on Ullanlinnankatu. Press the doorbell at the rear entrance, and a member of our staff will meet you and escort you to the main lobby.
Strollers are welcome in the exhibition spaces.

In Building D, there is a designated indoor stroller parking area. You may also borrow a baby carrier from the museum if needed.

In Building A, there is no separate stroller parking. Strollers may be left in the lobby or taken into the exhibition hall.
Large bags and other bulky items must be left in the lockable lockers in the lobby or at the front desk.

Museum Shop
The museum has two shops that you can visit during your museum visit or while passing by. The selection covers a wide range of different design fields. You’ll find iconic design objects, architecture and design books, fashion, glass, ceramics, and more. The shops also feature rotating collections of jewelry and products by graphic designers and illustrators. The museum shops are open during museum opening hours.
Gift Cards and Online Shop
A gift card to the Architecture and Design Museum shops makes an inspiring gift for all ages. The gift card is valid at both of our museum shops. Our selection includes fun activities, beautiful objects, books, and clothing — ideal for gifting.
You can also buy and order a rotating selection of exhibition-related products and publications on various design fields from our online shop.
Museum Café

Museum Café
Take a coffee break during your exhibition visit or enjoy a glass of wine to end the day. Located in Building D, Taito Café serves lunch as well as a selection of sweet and savoury treats. You’ll find locally roasted coffee, craft beers, and organic wines on the menu. A tasty soup and salad lunch is served daily from 11:00 to 14:00.
Taito Café is open daily from 11am to 6pm.
Visiting with Children

Visiting with Children
The Museum of Architecture and Design welcomes design enthusiasts of all ages. Admission is free for all visitors under 18 – tickets can be picked up at the museum ticket desk.
Both museum buildings are equipped with baby changing tables and potties for young children. A quiet space for snacks or breastfeeding can be found in the basement-level Studio. The café offers a high chair and a microwave for the youngest visitors.

Culture Kids

Culture Kids
All children living in Helsinki born in and after 2020 are invited to become Culture Kids. The kids are invited to two events each year until they start school. These events are free of charge. The Architecture and Design Museum is proud to be part of the programme. We serve as the sponsor organisation for children born in Helsinki in 2023.
